My book is officially published!

Now that Readying the Revolution is officially published, I'm going to start an occasional series of bloggy posts about the book and its contents. The first is about the general subject matter. I am a theater historian, and this work is very much grounded in theater history. But not entirely. I link the theater history research to a broader look at what I call "African American performance culture" of the post-war years. There's some discussion of how the work of musicians, political leaders, and professional athletes links with the work of theater artists in this era to perform radical resistance against white supremacy on the national stage.
